Beermas 2021-2022 Day 12 – Central City Brewing – Eclipse Barrel Aged Imperial Porter

We’ve made it to day 12.  To finish off big we have a big beer.  This imperial porter weighs in at 9% abv and is aged in bourbon barrels in small batches.  Let’s pour.  It’s nearly black with a thumb and a bit of head.  Smells amazing.  I’m catching the roasty malts and bourbon.  It’s sweet and boozy.

Let’s taste!  It’s even bolder than the aroma.  It’s so roasty and malty, the sweetness there, it has me wondering if maybe they added sugars or maybe boiled the wort for quite a while.  It could also be that and the bourbon.  This is definitely a slow sipper.  The mouthfeel I would say is medium and the carbonation is mild.  I like this beer a lot – great hearty winter beer.
